Moody Winter Wedding at Chicago Marriott Naperville | Sara + Jim

Sara + Jim’s Moody Winter Wedding at Chicago Marriott Naperville was just like them: a little funky, very creative, and crazy fun. When I say “moody” I definitely don’t mean their attitudes- I’m talking about the stunning florals, the black table settings and the deep burgundies and reds and lush greens laced throughout their wedding vibe.

For the style of their wedding, Sara + Jim focused on gorgeous flowers and a “metric shit ton” of black candles. Their vision for their moody, lush, decor paired beautifully with their “blackout ceremony”- where only they were illuminated, and the rest of the space was lit only by candlelight. It had an intimate, romantic vibe, transforming the ballroom, and the floral arch behind them made it all the more perfect. The space flipped beautifully for the reception, featuring golden candelabras for the perfect amount of drama, and they danced the night away: starting with proof that Jim’s swing dancing classes years ago truly paid off.

I adore these two and you’d be hard pressed to find a kinder, more fun pair. They let me pick their brains about their challenging jobs in the first responder and medical fields, and we’ve seriously bonded over our shared love (obsession?) with our cats (check out the cufflinks Sara made Jim, if you’re questioning their devotion). I loved spending their winter wedding day at the Chicago Marriott Naperville with them, and I’m so excited to share some of my favorite images from their stunning wedding day below:

Thank you so much, Sara + Jim for sharing your day with me. It was an absolute pleasure to kick off my wedding season with you two!
