5 Wedding Planning Things You Can Do During Quarantine

Okay let’s be real, if you’re here, it’s because you’re getting married, and you’re finding yourself with a lot of free time to plan your wedding because of COVID-19. With corona virus having us all tucked away safely at home for the time being, it makes perfect sense to use some of your “work from home” time to wedding plan. There are tons of wedding planning things you can get done while in quarantine, so I’ve compiled a list of some of the best ways that you can pass the time and plan your wedding from home.

Here are my top 5 wedding planning checklist items you can check off while still practicing social distance:

1. Make Music Moves : working on things like choosing your first dance song, picking do-not-play or must-play songs for your DJ or band, and making a playlist for that party bus ride between your getting ready spot and your venue. This seems like a minor thing, but we’ve all been down that Spotify rabbit hole where suddenly you’ve listened to 15 covers of the same song and you don’t even know how you got there. Start your wedding day playlist now, and save yourself from doing this tedious checklist item closer to your wedding day.

2. Get to Creepin’:

Hit Pinterest and Google Maps like they owe you money and you’ve been watching too much Sopranos. Start to find photo locations in your city that you LOVE and can picture your photos happening at on your wedding day. Lots of photographers like me have our own list of go-to favorites that we’re happy to share, but we will always welcome your well-researched preferences, as well! Do you like a more urban feel? Getting married in the burbs and looking for a forest preserve that’s not too far from where you’ll say “I Do”? Help your vendor team later by doing some of the legwork now, or at the very least find some locations you’re inspired by, so that we can match what you like with what’s doable on the day of.

3. Be Sweet to Your a Skin:

Start a skin care routine. As you get closer to your wedding day and to more photos of your face than ever before, it’s not always wise to try a new product or to suddenly get into exfoliating. But you’ve got all the time in the world right now, so use it to read up on hyaluronic acid and to upgrade your home-facial situation to something better than a makeup remover wipe and a $3 face mask from Target [if you’re feeling called out it’s because i’m right. Do better than this! Your skin will thank you]. Now is a great time to get deep into skincare Youtubers and Amazon cult favorites to figure out what your skin wants and needs to be its glowing, smooth, healthy best self in your wedding photos.

4. Go virtual. See what wedding planning activities typically done in person are now available to you online. From trying on a potential wedding outfits at home, to Zoom meetings with vendors, wedding businesses like mine are finding ways to make your typical face-to-face meetings digital. Start on the social media and websites of your favorite vendor or the little shop that makes the dresses you like, and see what options are available to you digitally during this time. We are all finding ways to pivot, let’s use this time for productive good instead of just existential dread! Even if that just means spending a day doing your Target registry online instead of in the store.

5. Do Some Soul Searching:

You’ll never have as much time to think and plot and scheme on your wedding day plans as you do in this time period. Now is a great time to figure out what really matters to you both when it comes to your wedding day. Take a look at the overall design aesthetic and make sure that the day feels timeless and lovely and special for you. Focus on how you want the day to look and feel, for you and your partner and for your guests. Take a look at your budget thus far, and make sure you’re investing in the making and capturing of these special memories- they’ll be even more special and cherished when all of this is over and we get back to our regularly scheduled lives!
